The 4 cylinder division is made up of 4 cylinder compact trucks and cars,
that are liberally modified on DOT tires. This division is relatively new
with a growing set of fans. This class is a great way and pretty inexpensive
way to give racing a try.

STOCK FOUR CYLINDER RULES

GENERAL RULES
This class of car has been developed to permit those desiring to try stock car racing to do so at an absolute minimum cost. Races for this class will be run counter clockwise. This is a production division unless specifically listed below as an allowable modification. You may not change or modify the car or parts in ANY WAY.
1. CAR REQUIREMENTS
Front wheel drive, three or four cylinder, non-turbo charged passenger cars. Maximum wheel base of 103”. All cars are subject to tech approval. Four wheel steer (AWS) cars allowed with rear disconnected and alignment pins installed.
2. CAR BODIES
REQUIRED: Folding seat must have seat back fastened in position. All exterior trim including lights, body moldings, mirrors, etc. must be removed. All side and back glass must be removed. Driver’s door must be bolted, strapped, or welded shut. Hood and trunk must be secured with hood pins only. No other latching devices allowed. Full dash panel assembly required.
ALLOWED: Fenders may be trimmed, if not excessive, to remove rust-out. You may add a steel protector plate to the driver’s door. Stock-appearing bumpers REQUIRED. Bumpers may be welded in place. Bumper ends may be capped and have supplemental attachments to the fenders to prevent the hooking of bumpers. All flammable materials including carpets, pads and door panels may be removed from interior and trunk, except dash pad and driver’s seat. Seat may be changed. Front windshield may be Lexan, two braces required. Air conditioner compressors, smog pumps, excess wiring, heater and air conditioning boxes and coils may be removed. Holes left in firewall must be covered. Aftermarket aux gages may be used. A single plane rear spoiler with a maximum height of 5” allowed. Front spoiler and side skirts with minimum ground clearance of 6” allowed. A stainless steel mesh screen is recommended.
3. ROLL CAGES
REQUIRED: Four point roll cage. Cages must be installed and constructed so that the “B hoop” is higher than the driver’s head and a diagonal bar from shoulder height towards feet on both sides. No portion of any bar or cage may pass through any firewall to hook to or stiffen the frame beyond the area of the driver’s compartment. 13/4” inch .095tube is recommended if cage or bar is mounted to the floor pan. A 6” x 6” steel plate or eqivalent must be used at hoop mounting points, and plated gussets at main intersections are recommended. Door bars are recommended. It is your responsibility to construct a cage assembly capable of protecting you from injury.
4. TIRES AND WHEELS
REQUIRED: Stock type steel wheel with broad line street tire and an aspect ratio of 70 only, i.e. P195/70R14. No V or Z rated tire, no re-grooving, shaving, recap, or chemical treatment is allowed. Maximum rim diameter of 15”. No aftermarket wheels except steel race wheels. Same size and profile required on all four corners. Oversize 1”lug nuts are required.
5. BATTERIES
REQUIRED: Battery must be securely tied down. ALLOWED: Battery may be relocated and mounting tray reinforced, but must remain under the hood.
6. ENGINES
REQUIRED: Complete stock motor. No modifications!!! ALLOWED: Removal of excess wiring, sensors, etc.
7. TRANS AND REAR AXLES
REQUIRED: Stock, unmodified trans and transaxle as manufactured and delivered with working forward and reverse gears.
8. BRAKES
REQUIRED: Stock, must be capable of locking all four wheels independently. Stock proportioning valves only.
9. EXHAUST
REQUIRED: A complete leak free, tight exhaust system. A maximum size of 2” o.d. must be run from the engine to an area behind the driver and must include a stock muffler. ALLOWED: Approved aftermarket mufflers NAPA 17713 or 17714, Dynomax, or Walker 17731 or 17732. Removal or gutting of catalytic converter. Loss of muffler will be grounds for black flag. Decibel limit of 85.
10. STEERING AND SUSPENSIONS
REQUIRED: Stock only. No modifications!!! Ride attitude must be maintained.
11. COOLING SYSTEMS
REQUIRED: Any stock radiator which will fit in stock brackets. 180 degree metal fan shroud is optional, (No plastic allowed, is on hold to be reviewed this year). An overflow container mounted in engine compartment. Water only in radiator (STRICKLY ENFORCED).
12. FUEL TANKS
REQUIRED: Cars without the fuel pump mounted in the tank must use a cell or marine type tank mounted in the trunk. Stock tanks allowed if mounted in front of rear axle. Cells are recommended. Tank must be securely fastened to the trunk floor with a minimum of 2” x 1/16” straps in each direction bolted through the floor using doubler plates or installed in a safely constructed frame. Tank must not be mounted within 10” of the rear panel or extend beyond the frame rails. No bottom draw tank. Maximum size is 5 gallons. Cell required on wagons. Cars equipped with an electric fuel pump must
have a toggle type switch installed and clearly marked at the base of the driver’s “A” pillar. All vehicles are required a rollover valve on vents.
13. NUMBERS
REQUIRED: Minimum of 18” high number in a contrasting color to the body is required on both doors and roof of the car along with a 6” high number on the upper left (driver’s side) corner of the windshield and a 5” high number on the back of the car. Car number must be registered. No duplication of car numbers are allowed.
14. SEAT BELTS
REQUIRED: A racing type seat belt and shoulder harness in good condition. Seat belt must be a minimum of 3” wide. Shoulder strap must be a minimum of 3” wide. Quick release buckles are mandatory. Age of 3 years or less is required. Submarine straps are recommended. (Racing seat issue to be reviewed.)
15. WINDOW NETS
REQUIRED: An approved window safety net is required. Window net must be large mesh 12” minimum length. Window nets must fall down and must snap with a seat belt snap on top front corner of window, and release to be clearly marked on roof.
16. CLOTHING
REQUIRED: Firesuits, gloves, shoes and neck braces are all required.
17. HELMETS
REQUIRED: SA2000 or newer.
18. TOW HOOKS
REQUIRED: A secure towing device (hook, cable, etc.) must be installed both front and rear, and securely fastened and located so as not to be a hazard in the event of contact.
19. RADIOS
Two-way radios are not allowed. ALLOWED: Stereos with “whoop a--“ amps, until 11pm
20. MIRRORS
