Wilmot Speedway Truck Rules
GENERAL:
This class has been created to provide an opportunity for vehicle manufacturers
and after market manufacturers to showcase their products. It is designed as a
production class. All vehicles shall conform to the manufacturers as produced
and delivered in U.S. specifications. The ONLY allowable modifications are those
specifically listed in the rules. Rules are subject to change to maintain competition
between makes. NO OTHER CHANGES OR ALTERATIONS ARE ALLOWED.
ELIGIBILTY:
Eligible vehicles shall be those 4 (four) cylinder, light duty, 2 (two) wheel
drive pick-up trucks sold in the United States.
BODY: General: All body
panels must be stock factory steel in stock locations. Inner bedsides may be removed
from box. Floor of box may be removed and frame built to support bed sides. If
box floor is removed, a tonneau must be put on and a 5(five)” spoiler may be used
on rear.
Bumpers: FRONT: Factory stock bumpers or 1.5” .090 tube covered
with a plastic nose. REAR: Maybe O.E. step type or approved after market or fabricated.
Rear Bumper must remount in factory location. Bumpers must be capped and have
supplemental attachments to the fender which prevents the hooking of bumpers.
Bumper must be 2” X 5” square stock.
STRIPPING: All burnable material
in the interior. Inner drivers. Door panels maybe Removed for door bars to fit.
Inner front fenders maybe removed.
SEAT: Aluminum race seat and 5 point
harness in good shape and not more than 3(three) years old.
ROLL CAGE:
The minimum requirement shall be a 6(six) point roll cage. The front Hoop shall
follow the A pillar. The rear main hoop shall be inside of the cab. 2(two) forward
braces may extend through or be connected to the frame section; 2(two) additional
braces may be used to connect these bars to the frame. Right side door bars shall
not interfere with the stock door panel. Left door may have inner panel removed
only for the fitment of door bars. (Door frame and pillars must remain intact.)
The lowest door bar shall be at the same height as the front bumper and the uppermost
door bar shall be below the line of the side window. Minimum roll cage material
is 1.75” .095 tubing for the main cage and 1.50” .090 tubing for all other bars.
Door bars must be plated with #18 gauge or .0490”.
DRIVE TRAIN: ENGINE:
All engine components shall remain as specified and delivered by the manufacturer
except as noted below. Emission control device may be removed. Any cam grind and
hydraulic or solid non-roller lifter allowed. Engine may be balanced and blueprinted.
Engine may be bored out to a maximum of .040”. No grinding is allowed on the crank
except for balancing. Porting and polishing is allowable. Engine must be in stock
location. One movement limiter maybe added. Dual plug or 4(four) valve heads require
individual tech inspector approval. Oil coolers May be added as long as cooler
is completely within the body work. Factory stock oil pan may be internally modified.
Crank maybe cut for Chevy 5.7 rods. Crank Shaft can be lightened.
INTAKE
AND EXHAUST: Trucks that are not equipped with fuel injection may use unmodified
Aftermarket intakes and spacer plates of not over 1 ¾” with gaskets or Adapter
plates to fit holley carbs p/n 7448 or (older 350 2bbl.). Carb #4412 is allowed.
Aftermarket Headers are allowed. Exhaust pipes from header to muffler 2 ½ O.D.
And must exit behind cab and leak free. Electric fuel pumps may be Used and a
low oil pressure cut off switch hooked in the oil system.
IGNITIONS: Stock
or high output cap wires and coil are permitted. MSD’S are legal
COOLING
SYSTEM: All trucks shall be equipped with an overflow tank or a 1(one) gallon
minimum Overflow container. Factory or aftermarket radiators are acceptable.
TRANSMISSION:
Stock unmodified factory automatic, 4 or 5 speed unit. Clutch shall be stock unit
or aftermarket single disc replacement unit.
DRIVESHAFT: Driveshafts must
be mild carbon steel or factory aluminum. Two piece may be changed to a one piece
design. A driveshaft loop must be installed on the forward half of the shaft and
be at least 1 1/4'”X 1” steel and shall be close enough to the shaft to prevent
it from contacting the racing surface.
REAR AXLE: Stock rear axle housing
or Ford 9” housing allowed. Limited slips, mini spool or open rear differentials
are allowed which fit, without modifications inside the stock housing. Any ring
and pinion is allowed. No locker rear ends allowed.
SUSPENSION: Alignment
settings are unrestricted. Bushing material is unrestricted. Any front or rear
sway bar may be used providing that it is bolted to the vehicle, not welded and
is available on the general aftermarket. Bar must maintain original concept and
design. Spring rates are unrestricted steel springs only. Weight jacks are legal.
Trucks with the rear leaf springs above the axle may relocate the spring only.
Lowering blocks not exceeding 3(three)” may be used. Bump rubbers may be removed
or modified. Frame notching is allowed for rear axle housing. All models may relocate
upper control arm mounting a maximum of 1” inboard. All trucks may use aftermarket
available drop spindles and/or modified or aftermarket I-beams. All vehicles may
use 1(one) coilover shock per corner and be remotely adjustable. May relocate
shock mounts. Aftermarket or fabricated upper and lower control arms may be installed.
3(three) link suspension is allowed. Any aftermarket front suspension may be used.
Front suspension unlimited to modification.
BRAKES: All brake components
will remain stock except as noted below. Brake lines may be replaced with armored
lines. Any proportioning valve may be used. Friction material may be replaced
with alternate material. All 4(four) brakes must be operational.
STEERING:
Manual or power steering is allowed. Steering wheel may be replaced with approved
aftermarket wheel or quick release wheel. Also you may use rack and pinion steering
and fabricated mount.
WHEELS / TIRES: Stock (OE) 235/50, or anything smaller
to a 205/70 or 75, 14-inch, or 15-inch passenger car tires only. Tires must be
inside body. No racing, snow, or all- terrain tires. No softening, conditioning,
sipping/grinding or grooving. May be a 7 inch DOT approved or maximum eight-inch
wide stamped steel wheels with standard bead bump - must weigh a minimum of 19
pounds. No mag wheels. One inch steel lug nuts required. No bleeder valves. Bead
lock wheel is allowed on the right rear only the bead lock wheel is only allowed
to be in a 8 inch width and must have an IMCA approved wheel decal on the wheel.
There is a reason behind the IMCA decal on the bead lock it is a safety concern
of LMEI.
FUEL TANK: Fuel cells are required. Cells will be mounted above
bottom of frame rails and at least 10(ten)” forward of rear bumper. 16(sixteen)
gallon maximum tank size.
BATTERY: Battery must be relocated in left front
bed area and must be securely fastened. Master cut off switch is required and
will be mounted bottom left corner of rear window or in front left corner of bed
level with rails and clearly marked OFF and ON. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: SA 2000 helmet
required and must be worn at all times truck is on the track. Roll bar padding
required in driver’s compartment. SFI approved full fire suit, fire retardant
neck brace, gloves, and shoes are required. Head and neck restraints recommended.
Arm restraints or driver’s side window net to be mounted so latch is at top front
of window. Five point safety belt is required. (not more than three years old
is recommended.) Belt must be securely fastened with grade #8 ½” bolts.
EIRI
(Except in rare instances) Decisions of officials are final and binding without
exception. In some cases, track safety rules may take precedence over LEMI rules.
Any discrepancy between LEMI and track rules should be brought to the attention
of LEMI. Any rule changes or clarifications during the course of the year will
be published.
